Re: 85 SR5 3ac cylinder head, possibly passenger fender
Welcome to the forum, Bugalona. I prefer this place for getting good technical advice from serious Tercel enthusiasts, but the Facebook group is a better resource for parts hunting because it's much more active, with many more members. So if you're on fb I would ask there. Good luck!

Re: 1985 tercel windshield BC Canada
I'm in BC too. I looked all across Canada last year with little luck, and the few places I found that had them wouldn't ship them. In the end I found a place in Washington state that had them so I drove down and bought one, then brought it home and had it installed here (if my windshield frame wasn'...

Re: OEM Shock Replacement
Replacing the rear shocks is really easy, it's just two 12 mm nuts on top and a 14 mm bolt down below. The fronts aren't hard to do, you can absolutely do it in your driveway, but you need spring compressors and have to remove the steering knuckle (or that's how I do it anyway). If you've never done...

Re: Where's the Horn?
It's behind the left (driver side) headlight. You have to remove the grill and headlight trim to access it, which sounds like a PITA but it's actually not bad. I replaced one on a rust bucket not too long ago and it didn't take long.

Re: LED backup light
Hmm. My guess would be that my LED bulbs are perhaps wired opposite to yours? I'm assuming all LED bulbs come from places with little to no quality control so maybe it might be a tossup as to whether a bulb will work out of the box. FYI, these are the ones I bought: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07GTL2Z...

Re: LED backup light
No, an LED backup bulb should work just fine. I recently swapped in a super bright one, no issues at all with it. Do you have a few other known good LED bulbs you can test it with?

Re: Distributor sitting for years at shop
From my experiences, I suspect that the cause of the distributor advance diaphragms rotting is largely engine oil contamination from a leaking distributor o-ring. The oil runs down the dizzy and leaks into the advance unit and breaks down the diaphragm material. I've noticed that the tercels I've ha...

Re: Distributor sitting for years at shop
Did you get the distributor? How much was it? Are the vacuum advance diaphragms in good shape? Dizzy's are one of the spare parts I particularly like to keep around. Lots of little components in there that can fail so it's nice to be able to swap a known good one in and rule it out as the issue when...

Re: Stock vs. Weber
Welcome, SR5. This forum isn't as active as it used to be so I'm not confident you will find anyone here with experience completely removing all the emissions stuff from the stock carb. I know that some other non-current users here did so in the past though so I recommend searching here to find thos...

Re: Pulse pump missing? Smog issue
it says the AS system supplies filtered air to the cat to aid in burning HC and CO. I would just find a used air filter housing that has the correct AS stuff on it (remember there are a few versions -- Federal and California, and they are different) and swap it in. Whoops, I was mistaken here. I di...

Re: Flywheel for 3ac??
I don't believe the flywheels for 3E engines will work for ours but I'm not positive. If your FWD hatchback is automatic, it won't have a flywheel. I think the best option would be to buy a used one from someone here or on the fb group and get it machined. No shims are required for that, I have had ...

Re: ISO: Stock Carburetor for 1985 A/T w/ 3AC Engine
Might be a complete newbie question here, but is there a difference between a carb from auto and manual? I am swapping my 83 FWD hatchback from auto to manual transmission... I know it has some kind of linkage that goes to the auto trans right? Is this not on the manual car carburetor? How do I go ...

Yeah looking at the FSM pic Chris posted, it says the AS system supplies filtered air to the cat to aid in burning HC and CO. I would just find a used air filter housing that has the correct AS stuff on it (remember there are a few versions -- Federal and California, and they are different) and swap...

Re: The 4 Transmission Seals
I just replace the output shaft and 4WD selector shaft seals this past weekend with SKF 12745 and SKF 552505 respectively. I cleaned everything really well and parked uphill overnight to put as much oil to the back of the transmission as possible. I placed a piece of cardboard under the car to chec...
