Re: Panda Tercel idea.

I like this thread. Let's keep photoshopping silly things onto my car! I like the huge blower through the hood idea. Who's on it?

Re: Planning a Road Trip

That could be great! We could also maybe organize a Front Range Tercel meet at the same time as where I'm staying is only a couple miles from highlander's place.

Re: Lube For Shift Lever Parts - and NLA Cover Gasket

I ended up replacing that shift lever with a JY one in great condition. What a difference!

Re: Planning a Road Trip

Nice! I just did this trip in the opposite direction (Denver to SF, now up to Portland/Seattle, and then going back to CO via Montana before xmas). For all the advice, I-70 through Vail Pass in the Rockies gets shut down just as often as I-25 S from Wyoming down to CO. Just have fun!

Re: I has snow?

Update from Monterey, CA: So little car has been running (pretty much) beautifully. Despite an issue with the charging system/battery which was fixed by replacing the voltage regulator and alternator in the parking lot of the Home Depot in San Rafael. I was amazed as usual about how easy it was to f...

I has snow?

I figured you all have helped me get my car running great that I would repay you with some pictures I took today. It's snowed about 2 feet in the last two days here, so I decided it was a wise investment to get snow tires. Within 10 minutes of getting them on I came across a mail truck stuck sideway...

Re: Boulder/Denver area parts car

ummm... not great. Lets just say I tried to get under the "tercel 4WD" logo with a screwdriver and as soon as I touched it the logo fell off... Not terrible though...

Boulder/Denver area parts car

I was just out at Pull-n-Save in Aurora yesterday and there was a silver/blue '83 wagon there. I pulled the shift lever, some frame parts, the aftermarket speakers, and a few other things, but it still has some pretty good stuff in there. The trans seemed to be in quite good condition, and I almost ...

Re: Getting my car ready for the road

P.S. Check out them bushings. Just ordered a whole new setup from Butler... Fortunately the sway bar looks like it was replaced recently. checkthembushings.jpg ALSO (I have a feeling this is in the "dumb questions" category) but do I need a timing light if I am going to replace the plugs/w...

Re: Capped off pipe

You're right about that - it connects between the red and yellow arrows. That hose was gone on mine too, and I replaced it mostly for shits & giggles as it seems to disintegrate and fall off every 6 mos anyway... hose.jpg I don't see that copper pipe you have capped off on mine. I can't see clea...

Re: Getting my car ready for the road

Thanks ARCH, Just found I have a neighbor who used to run his own garage & and has about 8 racks of those red craftsman tool boxes... No renting stuff for me! Got the parts in & pulled everything fine. A bit rusty and not well lubed in there. In pulling stuff apart it did not seem like the b...

Re: Getting my car ready for the road

I'm glad Butler toy has them for less. That seems crazy pricey. ARCH, would you recommend doing as you did and replacing the whole assembly (bushings, metal inserts, retainers etc?) as I think mine are far more destroyed than sdoan's as well. Also, I couldn't get movement out of my ball joints, but ...

Re: Getting my car ready for the road

So after a day of poking around, changing oil, gear oils, etc, I found the cause of my noise. Where the stabilizer bar comes into the lower arm there should be some kind of rubber bushing/bumper and there's not. It's really obvious as the stabilizer bar has rubbed off the layer of rust and there's b...
