Ha! You're right, it IS a manual tranny; I only looked on the dealer's web site, not at the photos here. The dealer website has it listed as an automatic...

Re: 1987 4WD 228K Miles Denver CL ad
looks like it's the same hideous burgundy colour that was ron's namesake. ron has a light brown interior though and this one has the grey/blue interior. it seems like there is no relation between paint colour and interior colour on these cars. I owned an 84 in that burgundy exterior color with a me...

Re: Manual Choke Question
My 1971 Datsun 510 had a manual choke built in,which was really great for starting the car in extremely cold weather, and boosting performance when driving with a fully loaded car in the mountains. I've had so many carburetor problems over time with the Tercel stock carb that I've often wished for a...

1987 4WD 228K Miles Denver CL ad
Not me, found this on CL, Denver. Not a bad looking auto, but expensive for this many miles! Dealer ad, so maybe he could be talked down somewhat. Btw, this car is a dead ringer for the one I own, and has the same nice composite headlights. However, this one has an automatic tranny, according to the...

Overpriced T4wd in Denver--CL ad
I saw this on Craigslist, it is not mine the owner seems very unaware of repair costs etc on this rusty one, and has it way overpriced, imho, that is a $400 car: http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/2990523693.html 85 Toyota Tercel SR5 4x4 - $1600 (Denver) -----------------------------------------------...

Re: Change in Toyota Dealers Parts Sites
Ely, I am confused by your response; are you a salesperson for Toyota? They are talking about the change to the web sites that will not allow part numbers to be located for our older cars.

Re: Blue 194 LED's and the Yota
So, I have changed out the gauges, and I think they really look good in blue. I thought I would share that I used the 194's with 4 small LED's in them. They are cheaper than SMD, and they are brighter than a lot of others. Let me know what you think. The next, and more difficult task, is changing o...

Re: Tercel Wagon not for highway travel?
Hey, I drive the heck out of the Colorado mountains in mine, winter and summer, up and down I 70 all the time, with no overheating problems. Clearly your mechanic was implying that he either didn't want to spend the time troubleshooting the cooling problems or didn't want you to spend too much money...

Re: BEST MPG??
I've owned 3 Tercel 4wd std transmission wagons, all non-tweaked variety, but all running fairly well. Best mileage on flatland highways was 31-32 without a roof rack and with standard 13" tires. In the Colorado mountains with fully loaded car, occaisional 4wd engagement, snow tires and a ski r...
